50th Anniversary Traditions
The celebration of a 50th anniversary is a milestone event that extends to
several generations of family and a large circle of friends. Whether you
plan a quiet dinner with close family or a community-wide celebration, the
accomplishment of a lifetime of love should not be forgotten. This
anniversary is known as the "golden anniversary" because of the old
German practice of giving a gold wreath to a woman after 50 years of marriage.
(A silver wreath was traditionally presented to the wife after 25 years or
marriage.) Gold is the customary color for this anniversary and the traditional
gem stone is the Imperial Topaz.. The designated flower for the 50th anniversary is the
Violet. The traditional gift is gold, but often a gold-colored card is chosen to
go along with a more suitable gift. Couples that have been married for
fifty years usually have collected the material items they need and often prefer
not to have to deal with numerous anniversary gifts. Gift certificates to a
favorite restaurant or for activities they both enjoy are good
alternatives. And the best gifts of all involve spending time instead of
money.

envelopes are included at no additional charge, or you may choose to have us
print your return address on the back flap of the envelope.
